Location, location, location! If you want to save time and money while you’re visiting Nashville, it really is about your location. There’s so much to do, see, eat and hear while you are in Music City that you need a plan to make sure you leave with amazing memories. We can help by starting with where to stay. This week we’ve got some Trip Tips for lodging when Visiting Nashville.

Be Flexible on Your Dates: There were some very sad bachelorettes during the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville not only because everything was more expensive, but most of the party buses weren’t running because of the road closures. There is always something fun going on in Nashville, but if you can find a weekend that is fairly calm, I promise that you will still have the time of your life in Nashville. In fact, book your trip during the week. The days are all the same here when it comes to having fun.

Map the Top Must-See Activities: Agree as a group on the five things you will completely freak out about if you don’t get to experience them. Then, find them on the map to figure out what location makes the most sense for those activities. Create a Second and Third Tier to see what works best in the plan.

Do the Math: I know, it’s vacation. You don’t want to be doing complicated math problems, but this might be the best real-life experience your teacher was talking about when she was trying to get you to pay attention back in the day! If the majority of your time is going to be spent downtown at the honky tonks, concert halls and sporting events, that overpriced hotel room might not be so expensive after all. Let’s say it’s $100 more per night than that hotel by the airport. but you’ll be using rideshare apps for four rides per day at $25 per ride. I made that math pretty simple, but it’s also pretty accurate.

Dress for Day to Night: If your activities are spread out all over town, then be ready to be out all day and night. The trips back to the hotel are where you start to rack up those extra costs that you were trying to save when you booked the less expensive hotel. I know, we all have that friend that needs a nap on the second day. Nashville can get ya! But you have to power through. It’s just a few days. Imagine if you lived here! That’s a whole different blog.

Schedule Rideshares in Advance: With the surge pricing and shortage of drivers during peak times, you can lock in your prices by scheduling in advance. It’s also not a bad idea to have Sober You telling Drunk You when to go home. That should also limit the need for trips back to the hotel for naps. In addition to Lyft and Uber, Nashville also has Earth Rides. While it’s still a small company, if you schedule in advance, you almost always get a ride with some of the coolest people in town. Because the staff is small, you’ll probably get the same driver, which we love. Plus, they drive Teslas!

Don’t Rule Out the Old School Cabs: When you get to the airport or you’re closing down the honky tonks, this might be a good time to negotiate with the cab drivers.

Join Hotel Rewards Programs: Even if you never stay at that hotel property again, there are some great benefits just for signing up for the free Rewards Program, including discounts, free WIFI, breakfast, happy hours, free cancellations, etc.

Of course, this advice also works if you are planning to stay at an Airbnb. Save time and money by making a plan in advance so you can concentrate on all of the fun when you get here!
